Mano de Guerra

Grandmaster Guerra developed and formulated this Stick & Knife Combat Art from the basis of the Filipino Arts he studied in Olongapo City, Philippines over 40 years ago and since then he has improved & updated.

Grandmaster Guerra is a proud American Viet-nam Veteran.  Having served in The United States Navy as an operations intelligence specialist aboard The U.S.S. Jouett-DLG-29 in the coastal waters of North & South Viet-Nam Gulf of Tonkin as a result was awarded the Meritorious Unit Citation & The Viet-Nam Cross of Gallantry.

Mano de Guerra Kali-Arnis-Eskrima is a combat system developed by Grandmaster and founder Richard M. Guerra in 1970.  He first began teaching it to his students in 1980 in his Wing Tsun Kung Fu classes.  After a few years he held back the teachings of the blade until he carefully studied the character of the potential student.  Grandmaster Guerra began doing this because he believed that to empower someone with knife skills could be dangerous if taught to the wrong individual.  Only people with no criminal record can study the Mano de Guerra Kali-Arnis-Eskrima system as it is not for play.

This is not a Sport.  We have No Rules in a Combat Tactical Response against any Aggressor.  Our sole objective is to teach you to fight back effectively and to develop a high level of self-confidence.  We do not engage in esoteric Chinese or Japanese philosophy's nor do we teach any Asian culture about our system of combat.  It is a Filipino knife & stick combat system.  It is not karate, jujitsu, kung-fu or MMA.  This is the answer to street violence that can occur at any moment.  We teach you how to fight back and destroy the attacker who does not care about your belt rank achievements, trophys won in tournaments or lofty & grandiose titles.

After 46 years of experience and street combat, Master Instructor Richard Guerra has created his association known as Guerra International Combat Arts.  His main focus is in the Filipino Stick & Knife Fighting skills of Kali-Eskrima-Arnis.  Grandmaster Guerra is a strict instructor.  He will not give you any slack in your training.  This is for your own good and in the long run will benefit you in many ways.  Mano de Guerra is not boring at all!  The first day you start classes you will be learning how to use a weapon.  In other martial arts, weapons are taught last and in most cases never taught since the instructor has no weapons experience.  Mano de Guerra uses a practical and simple way to deal with multiple attackers.  You will learn how to handle a weapon.  How to move your feet & coordinate it with the movement of the weapon.  We do not use music in our classes, nor stand on our head to kick.  We never jump or kick above the knees.  We teach the power of the elbow, knees & strikes as well as disarm techniques.  Within Mano de Guerra System we do have a ranking system for all students.  The highest grade is The Mano de Guerra Warrior Degree of 10th Level which at this time is held by The Founder Richard M Guerra.
